Indian Creek!

Brad's Bach Party Part Deux

When the Buikema clan gets together, always expect the unexpected. Last Saturday included 1 broken chain, quickly and expertly repaired by Bry, snacks and brews, a killer ride on SoBo's newer south side trails, a little rain, history and geology lessons galore (true or not has yet to be validated), and a surprise drop by our favorite nomad/wanderer/ hitchhiker, Sue!Kind of had to be there. Night ended with Souther Sun fun and a quick drop in the Westend. Good times, good times...

Ah, very strange

Just when it couldn't get any weirder, the humus sculpture broke out

Domo arrigato Senor slobato!

Greeting Cyclonauts from deep in the Land of the Rising Sun! Fried crispy I have arrived in Kansai, Osaka Japan like an ill-wind. Luckily they do not use the same alphabet so I have no idea where I am going as I stumble around with my souvenir surgical mask and my mapquest directions are pleasingly vague like "after bus ride walk 12 minutes to destination". Oh really, thanks, no way I can go wrong with that spot on advice. If you see me on tv at the Ninja Warrior facilities, perhaps pricked full of shuriken, please call my wife. Must run, bus to Kyoto then easy 12 minute walk and then I can take nap, preferrably without Korean hosts (did they follow me from Seoul?!) offering food or massage every 2 minutes. Oh you are tired, good lets eat shabu shabu! Number 1 Korean specialty! So tired round eye? Let us do traditional Korean nude sauna, so invigorating, yes? Feeling sleepy western-dog? How about Pine Bud specialty drink and karate-chop to back of neck, hai!! Highroller over, so over. Also out.

Ko-Rea!

Highroller here, reporting from Seoul, Ko-rea where the periwinkle is tasty, the abalone is rubbery and the chicken and octopus soup is ALWAYS the Daily Special! Sean, you'll be glad to know I got the traditional Korean sauna treatment, complete with VERY attentive to detail male rubdown attendant, and I had to pay HIM ?! I mighta been had on that one...
Otherwise exactly as you'd expect for a Highroller trip, arrived in monsoon, got ear probed for swine flu, everyone wearing surgical mask but me, hmmm? Suits, suits, yes, nice to meet you too, forgot my suit, raining, go for walk, lost amongst 1 billion Chinee, go to McDonalds, offered hash, hookers, etc. back to hotel. Then fly to Seoul, Hmmmm everyone still wearing surgical masks, except for me, sneeze on fellow passenger, dirty looks for rest of flight, remote heat-seeking camera probes me this time looking for swine fever, sign document that I am not sick, have never been sick, don't even like pork, stagger out of airport, uh oh, Korean hosts waiting long time, drive in silence, I sneeze again just out of snittyness. Breakfast is crab salad, pecan pie, ribs, drive to crazy mtb race, 1600 racers, concert by famous Korean singer, Blue Man group style drums, MC makes racers dance, everyone laughing except me, oh yeah rain. Next day meet president, meet vice president, still no suit for me, lunch is ox tail, raw crab, liquor made from sweet potatoes, everyone taking care of me like I am made of sugar and likely to fall over at any time. Wonder how they know me so well? More food, fermented cabbage, strawberry wine, more restaaurants without chairs, famous actress fires starting gun for race, time for naked sauna with vice president(s), yes famous Korean massage, of course, for dinner periwinkles, more raw crab, Korean bbq, I count 40 plates on table for 4 of us, puts Buikemas to shame, shots, frequent referrals to dictionary for translations, karaoke? no thank you...sleep now please, toilet seat so warm, what's this button do? hot water up corn-hole, so good, bathroom floor warmed too, I sleep here in pool of own sweat, swine flu? xoM

Congrats!

Mucho belated congrats to these two miscreants for their engagement! It feels a bit like they are rushing into things to me, but I'm a traditionalist...;) Crossbowmaker and Dub team rockin' the teeter out at Prospect. Take it from Chainsaw and me, it's a smooooth ride from here on out...ha!

Emerald Mountain recharge

I foget sometimes but there is nothing better than a nice long ride to release the endorphins and clear your head out! Highroller took a solo climb & spin up conveniently located Emerald Mtn yesterday for a couple hours exploring on some sweet singletrack. A few lingering snowbanks, a pencil-thin snake, unexplained white bleached snail shells in the middle of the pine forest, hidden ponds, running into D. Hyde and Eric, yellow and black warblers, not crashing...all the ingredients for a great ride to (hopefully) get me through my whirlwind tour of Asia this week

Integrated Landscape Design

Whoop, there it is! Linky on lefty will take you right into the heart of the high stakes, go for broke knife-fighting lifestyle of a professional Landscape Designer. Kristin can also build you a wicked landscape if so desired. (*Note, this is different from "manscaping") Now your fresh bread eating, ti-bike riding lifestyle can be completed by relaxing after a ride, with a hot loaf of bread in your own garden space, instead of in a pool of your own salty sweat like before...

Also Sean, I finished up your corporate logo for "MY LITTLE PORNY" so whenever you're ready to get your e-commerce site up just let me know.

Boulder Bakery & Barkery

Handy-dandy link now up to Loni's fine baked goods...look to your left, no, your other left. Now down a little bit, yep, there it is! Shop early and shop often. Now if any other bIKE cLUB Footsoldier, flotsam, jetsam, floozie, hanger-on or full Cyclonaut would like to link to their own entreprenurial effort just let your friendly neighborhood Spiderman know. Then he'll write it down or maybe text me, maybe leave me a voicemail or whatever and I can put the link up. Dub, I know, has a blooming Landscape Design firm and Sean has that import deal with the anatomically correct 'My Little Porny' stuffed animal line...anyone else? Soon this little slice of Das Web could provide all the links you need to run your entire life! Assuming your life mainly requires freshly baked bread, titanium bicycles and an occasional quiet night at home with your completely washing machine safe 'Strawberry Hotcakes' doll...

Brotherly love

Well, the Brad Buikema Bachelor outing started out with a bang, that being thunder. Arrived Friday when Pete apparently blew his shock out, drank a few beers and had a few laughs hoping Brad would get over his nasty swine-flu like symptoms, which eventually passed, went to bed, woke up, had breakfast at the camp site, drove to Rabbit Valley where hell drooped from the skies, drove back to 18 Road when rain decided to follow. Went back to town, laughed at the rain, and the fact that Brian forgot his shoes and we went all the way back for them, had lunch at Guadalajara's, meandered over to the sports bar and laughed and giggled playing bar games and waited for the Kentucky Derby to start. Went back to the camp site, hooked up with DHyde, played corn hole as the skies opened up a hell fire can of woop ass rarely seen in these parts. Huddled under DHyde's canopy, drank beer, stoked the fire as the rain eventually quit. Thank god. Finally made it out to Mack exit next morning and proceeded to have an awesome ride on Moore Fun to Lion's Loop eventually descending Mack Ridge. Said goodbyes and drove home, in the rain...Thanks to the Fellas for an awesome and needless to say memorable experience. Congrats to Jess and Brad!

You shot a doe, silly

We must have pumped $25 in to this thing...

Armagedon Style Rain

What's up mammals?

Sad to miss out on the Fruita Ho-down, TSA and MOA did some serious stunt-scooterin' around the Love Shack over a rainy Steamboat weekend while Chainsaw buzzed on down to the Chalk Creek Stampede and proceeded to take names, numbers and accurate descriptions before kicking ass all over the place. She, could, go, all, the, way! We think she probably won the Cat 2 race outright rolling in right behind the last rider standing (but who started a couple minutes before she did in a younger age group) all others having been picked off from her tailgunner position as a 40+ (gasp, no!). That's one tough muther!
So...
