Snow Day!

Uno, Sasquatch, the Crossbowmaker and Chainsaw ready to drop down the backside for some excellent laps of Corona and the West Ridge...wish you were here!

Work vs. buckets of fresh snow with your friends? Do you even have to ask?

Blizzard '06

3' high and rising! No mail service, power flickering off, no satellite tv (gasp!), intermittent avalanches thundering off the roof (see impressive cornice forming), and no plowing the drive led to a nice peaceful morning at the Chalet. Mere 3 hours later and we were at Eldora, thank dog for the truck! By the time we got home, wasted from the deep heavy snow, it was all we could do to stumble inside but we dug deep and shovelled out for another hour. Still haven't even tried to unbury the car...

So this is what almost 3' of snow looks like...three rounds of shovelling later and you can get out the door. Now time to start on the cars...

Hmmmm this could take a while...

Highroller busts a move on windblown concrete above Caribou on Saturday. Exorcising (and exercising) the demons before Twelve Twenty throwdown...

Talking about 2'+ in the neighborhood today...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

2007 Trek 69er in Fruita, CO. About $1500 for this beast (includes Maverick fork). Hmmmm

My truck is famous!

Check out those pictures of the Summerhil warming up. Notice anything familiar? My truck was in pristine condition before those TIAA Cref kids warmed up next to it.

On Sunday, Cheeso, Lee, Rose, MOA, and Allison piled in to the cool mini-van and headed out for some "interesting" tele turns on St. Mary's Glacier. And it was a good day to get a tan. Verdict is still out whether it is an actual glacier or not. Anyone?

Lance Armstrong to Race in Leadville Trail 100
DECEMBER 01, 2006 -- AUSTIN, TX (BRAIN)--Lance Armstrong is going to race competitively on two wheels once again, but this time it’s going to be on a mountain bike.“The other bit of a challenge I want to do is a bit crazy,” said Armstrong, during the recent grand opening of the latest signature 24 Hour Fitness Lance Armstrong Sports Club in Austin, Texas. “It’s a mountain bike race in August held in Colorado called the Leadville 100. It’s about an eight to nine hour mountain bike race, mostly on single track that very few people do and even fewer finish.”The race involves more than 11,000 feet of climbing over the 100-mile course at altitudes between 9,500 and 12,600 feet. Armstrong’s interest in the race was sparked by his coach Chris Carmichael, who raced the Leadville 100 this year for the first time. “I told Lance that he needed to do Leadville,” Carmichael said. “That (New York City) marathon was nothing compared to slogging it out on a mountain bike for nine plus hours at altitude and in the rain. I guess I got him to accept the challenge.”

Happy Thanksgiving from all the Alfords that we could fit on one couch! We crammed people into the Chalet like stuffing into the bird and then got cracking on the case of wine Pop and Mimi dragged up there... Owie! More food than seemed logical at the time, all homemade, Cranium and a rockin' whistled version of AC-DC/Run DMC "Walk this Way"! Bring it on! Big thanks to Allison, Jen, Penny, Mimi, Rosa, Dick and Betty for all the delicious grub and good times. So much to be thankful for!

It looks like there is a decent amount of terrain already at Loveland. Anyone feel like getting crippled on Sunday?
