Mad Creek - Swamp Park - Red Dirt

Holy macaroni where oh where has our bike fitness gone? Chainsaw sucks Os about 300 yds from the trailhead...

Now here's a shot you haven't seen in a while. Last time we rode together was at K-dubs birthday ride in Ned, last year! Needless to say we were psyched to get out there on such a sweet day and sweet trail.

2nd try

We rode super nice singletrack along Mad Creek up to the wilderness boundary, no one else on the trails at all.

Then down, down, down! Cheese-Ooooooo!

Here is where the rabid Forest Cows turned us back on our Red Dirt hike earlier this year...

Sweet mossy trail thru the pines on upper Red Dirt

Shelf trail finale with lots of exposure off the right side. Maybe 10 miles total but mostly singletrack and we had the place to ourselves, two of my favorite ride characteristics for sure. So sweet to ride with Chainsaw again!
Now let's hear about CX and see some Fruita pix and stories stat!

Karaoke at the Outback Saloon

Aime and I went to the Outback Saloon for Karaoke Night on Wednesday. It was a night to behold. Of course, I belted out a perfect rendition of Pink's "Get the Party Started" and totally wowed the crowd. Check out the crowd dancing and moving to the groove I was laying down. Sorry for the poor video and sound quality but this video was from my phone and Aime was laughing too much.

Here is a link to a better video...

Fall has fallen!

Though the berry crop hangs on most of the leaves are falling and carpeting the trails around Steamboat and a touch of fresh snow has appeared on the top of Mt. Werner.

Betty deserves one last swim in Spring Creek before winter ices it over so up we went in search of a proper fetch stick

Off-roading with the fam and trying to figure out the self-timer on the new camera...not so good.

Betty takes off for the pond while Highroller groans under the ever-increasing load of TSA. Time to start toddling your own bad ass around tubby!

Another 150lbs and that jersey will fit like a second skin!

Chesaux Family Photos

This is the house that Matt's father built when Matt was a kid, the waterfall is behind his Mom's house. It really is beautiful out there and it makes sense why Matt loved to be in nature.

My last hike with Matt

Matt and I went for a hike on that Saturday before. It was a lovely little outing, I sure do miss that boy.

My last ride with Matt

Chesaux Memorial

After speaking with the Ashes about Matt's upcoming memorial, I offered to say a few words, perhaps on behalf of all of us. Please let me know if you'd like to be involved with a story to share, a favorite Chesaux quote (public school appropriate, which may be hard) or anything you'd like to contribute. E-mail me, or call.

We're trying!

Fall is gorgeous, trails are sweet and the temps have been kind...so why can't we get out there and enjoy it? Feels like we've been swimming upstream (I'm sure this isn't unique amongst Cyclonauts right now) and I for one am ready for the worm to turn, even slightly...

Eh

So what

Yeah it's nice. Chainsaw and Highroller will see if the 1st ever "Date Nite" this weekend can kick us out of our blahs. If not it's CarBombs for breakfast until springtime ;)

Best View of Taylor Glacier

As we were hiking down, the weather cleared up, the sun came out and we could see to the top. Its a very, very beautiful place.

View of Taylor from Glass Lake and a look behind us.

Taylor Glacier

This is the view of Taylor Glacier from Loch Lake, and then a pic of climbing up to Glass Lake. It was really windy once we got up to Glass Lake.

The Love of My Life

I am lost for words. I have no way to really compose this. All the elegance has been taken. What can I say, that I loved him, you all know that. That he helped me grow into an amazing women, that he loved me, you all know that too. That is why I am trying to write this is for you, all of you, that loved him and me. To those of you who have traveled with him and me on the wonderful journeys and tricky ones. Thank you all for helping Matt and I grow into the amazing couple that we are and always will be. Thank you for your love and support. I LOVE YOU ALL! I love you.  I will leave you with a Beatles Song: "Who knows how long I've loved you, You know I love you still, Will I wait a lonely lifetime?, If you want me to I will, And if I ever saw you, I didn't catch your name, But it never really mattered, I will always feel the same, Love you forever and forever, Love you with all my heart, Love you whenever we're together, Love you when we're apart, And when at last I find you, Your song will fill the air, Sing it loud so I can hear you, Make it easy to be near you, For the things you do endear you to me, Oh, you know I will"

One of my favorite Cheese-O pix

So glad I met and became friends with Matt, got to go ice climbing, riding and skiing with him and heard him bitch intelligently about a wide ranging and constantly evolving number of subjects. You just know he's grumbling about the architectural layout of Heaven right now! Scanning back thru this blog it is inspiring to see his many adventures and know he had a great run doing what he loved to do and I'm glad I could share in a couple great days with Matt that I will always remember. Godspeed brother.
