Ti, Ti, Ti...and "The Bus" GT cross bike
Just cuz you make ridiculously sweet ti frames doesn't nescessarily mean you can afford them...at least not with two mortgages. And yet the training has begun nonetheless, only 8 months until cross season! Highroller has gotten in at least 28 miles of training so far in 08 so prepare to get your ass handed to you on a platter when next we meet! Casual lunch ride today from the Moots factory and I only bonked twice!
Winter Carnival
Steamboat plowed all the snow back onto Lincoln for Winter Carnival, broke out the horses and started drag races down the main road...pretty funny! Kids had sprints, a ring toss behind a galloping horse, and a pretty good sized kicker to go off of...longest jump I heard (and these are all under 12 year olds) was 42'. Glen Plake was in the house and the weather was nice and warm so we busted out the Chariot for the first time and strolled around the festivities. Missed the snowmobile jumping at the rodeo grounds and the Lighted Man (burning guy skiing down Howelson at night) and the marching band on skis. Next year I'm entering the dual slalom on snow bikes and the tele races!
Rescue dog
Missed out on visiting and skiing with Bacon and Topshelf as they were involved in a t-bone on the way thru the Granby area early Sat morning, rolled their car and got to visit the ER instead. They are both ok (though I'm sure super sore now that the adrenaline has worn off) but scary nonetheless to say nothing of the pain in the ass factor of getting back home, car totalled, etc. Sounds like a truck ran a stop sign and hit them broadside. Send out all the good juju you can muster for a speedy recovery!

Day one
Dash would later try to knock off the ice that evening in his underwear, with ocassional glimpses of brain, with Keilin pulling at his shoe...funny
Perfect End to a Perfect Weekend
I couldn' eat it all, but I tried, and paid later, or I guess I should say my ride, Pete, paid dearly..

A Shit Load Of Snow
Sorry about the smaller images but they're screen captures from video. Hoping to post a little video in a bit. It was hard to stop and take a lot of pics when you've got only so many hours to ski all that snow. We guessed it to be around 4' in places and were getting sluff slides in steeper spots. They got around 2' over the course of the day while we were skiing.
Unfortunately they got 25" more overnight and as of noon on Monday, WC pass was still closed. We made a mad dash to Monarch, traded a couple beers for two lift tickets and got in 2 solid hours of skiing.
Oh, and probably the best part (outside of skiing) was watching the Patriots lose the Superbowl®. Perfect.

A boat load of snow
Parking becoming a challenge
Steamboat snowfall went over 300" (that's 25 feet!) this week and in Old Town at least it is getting really narrow and there is simply no where to put the snow anymore. This is the parking space at the Love Shack and we dig it out at least once a day, the rest of the grounds we've long given up on (good luck getting to/in the front door;)). Highroller has dug out all the old cold weather riding clothes (I mean the real stuff, booties, balaclava, windproof undies) and will be attempting to start getting in some lunch CX rides on the faithful "Bus" cross bike in search of some sort of form before riding season starts up again...wish me luck!

15" and still dumping
Getting kind of ridiculous in town with snow piled up 6' deep along all the narrow roads and 25' piles at the ends of streets. I'd show a picture but basically it looks like this " " outside our windows. Window into the backyard is completely covered and it is probably 8' tall. Thru all this we have a guy at the Moots factory who has put in 1500 base miles this year, like 4 hour rides in 6 degree weather...um, no thanks. If you're getting the riding jones though circle Mar 1-2 on the calendar and come join me at the Moab Skinny Tire Fest...lotsa road riding thru Arches, along the Colorado, etc. http://skinnytireevents.com/content/section/4/31/
