Spent the day on Sunday in the bc area just off Vail Pass (the part of Vail that does NOT suck Sean & Matt). Actually were skiing the east side of the ridge from Camp Hale. Powder turns all day. Brats & beers in the parking lot afterwards. $6 admission at the gate was well worth it. If someone offers you a chance to do this, do not hesitate.
So here's the plan. Everyone takes their economic stimulus package check and we buy some sleds. Kinda like the ping-pong table.

ReplyDeleteI may try it in the 'Boat next weekend, so I'll reserve judgement. Probably spend the "rebate" on some human-powered gear, though.
Is this backcountry skiing or a sledneck rendezvous? Be sure to bring your 9mm and camouflage ski pants if you go. Oh, don’t forget your goggles and mask....the exhaust can really sting your eyes and impair judgment.
ReplyDeletebtw - W and Congress stand behind your spending plan 100%.
lots of slednecks out there but mostly skiers in our area. 8 powder runs over 4 hours? You'd get one or two if you're lucky skinning. I haven't sold my skins, in fact we had them with just in case we saw something not accessible by sled. And regarding your you-tube note, we stayed on marked trails all day. If we had strayed we'd get stuck.
ReplyDeleteSnomobiles are one of those things that it's great to know someone that owns one. Owning one isn't all it's cracked up to be. You think a mountain bike is a money pit?
ReplyDeleteI've earmarked my rebate for a titanium cyclocross frame. Probably a Dean, maybe a Titus.
