Congratulations to Sean and everyone who has kept at it and stayed motivated to ride these past few weeks/months. It's been dark, cold and I fell off the cycling wagon far too quickly. (I've made some PHENOMENAL early season tele-turns, however!) So, I was just thinking ahead a little and was wondering if anyone would like to join me for the 24 hour race down in Tucson in February? It would be my first 24 hour bike race, and I'm looking forward to having something to keep me focused. Otherwise, wine, chocolate and bad tv will be my demise.
Rose? MOA? 4-person team?

When in doubt, air it out.
Can't believe I got my fat ass this far off the ground. If you go back to the slide show, you can see my comfort level and airtime improve each time I went over this thing. The Cat 4 35+ thumbnails have pictures of Pete K and Dash. On the ground. |

Built Ford Tough
Many thanks to the Velvet Hammer for his time, knowledge and use of tools in addressing the multiple mechanical difficulties that plagued the Deuce over the last few months. The failure of components on a vehicle that has 230000+ miles is expected but never enthusiastically received. Fortunately, these recent issues have been relatively simple repairs that your procrastinating author turned a blind eye towards. In addition to these repairs, the purchase of new tires has extended the useful life of this proud vehicle.
What does this mean to you, loyal reader? Not much, since most of you own your own cars and a healthy fear of riding in the passenger seat.
Please note though, while the Deuce isn’t aestheically pleasing, it does get adequate gas mileage and isn’t terribly uncomfortable for short trips. With the end of cyclocross season upon us, and the stories of signifigant amounts of snowfall in the mountains, the time to buckle up the boots is here. Expect the Deuce to be found in parking lots at the base of Mary Jane, Loveland, Arapahoe Basin, Eldora?, and assorted trailheads. (Never at the base of Vail, because as we all know, Vail sucks.) There is room for two in the cab, a working CD player, and increased reliability for anyone that needs a ride.
It also means that the residents of the Chalet (novice telemarkers!) need to get the cameras out to record the rematch of the Deuce with the non traditional winter entrance to their driveway. Get a tow strap for that Tacoma!

Hippo Birdy!
The Beer Drinking Robot is now one year old! That’s right Cyclonauts, somehow our little electronic nest has survived a whole year including over 460 posts and 4500 visits. Many thanks to all who have shared their photos and tales of woe, as well as the visitors and Lurkers Out Beyond the Campfire Light who have followed the misadventures of the bIKE cLUB Footsoldiers from a safe distance. We’ll see what we can cook up for Year Two! |

The 5.4R "U" Pitch
That's right, folks. Here we see Mr. Johnson finishing the scariest, most runout 5.4 pitch in Colorado - accompanied by dozens of hangers on.
You won't believe this!! Photographic evidence of our man Cheese-O conducting BUSINESS on top of the Third. Yes, the man who just gave up his rotary dial land line has now descended to the dregs of yuppieness, returning calls while waiting for the repel to clear. Overheard saying I heard Amgen is posting fourth quarter profits that are far exceeding analysts expectations, I say BUY James, Buy!
